You are invited to a gala dinner at the Selcius Restaurant. Ideally located on the edge of the River Saône (and partially on a barge), you will enjoy an evening in a bohemian atmosphere. This is the opportunity to pursue your scientific discussions and develop some projects for the future of ecology and evolution!

Friday, October 25th - Guided tours

Musée des Confluences - 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. - English
Guided tour of the permanent visitor trail of Musée des Confluences.

Guided tour of Vieux-Lyon with food tasting - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - English
Guided tour of Vieux Lyon, historical neighbourhood, with tasting of local specialties.
PLEASE NOTE that additional €13 in cash will be asked to participate to the tasting.

The slopes of the Croix-Rousse hill and the famous people on Lyon’s mural - 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. - English
Walk from one narrow street to the next and discover the “traboules”, in the footsteps of the silk workers. After walking down the slopes of the Croix-Rousse hill, the walk leads to the “Cour des Voraces” and across the “Place des Terreaux”, where you can admire the town hall, the Fine Arts Museum and the Bartholdi's fountain. The opportunity to discover the life of the “Canuts” in the 19th century, as well as the famous people who played a major role in the influence of Lyon since Antiquity.

Visit of the Herbarium - University Lyon 1 - 9.30 to 11 a.m. - English
We offer a visit to the “Herbarium” of the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, located on the campus la Doua (Villeurbanne). It is one of the largest “Herbarium” in the world, hosting millions of dry plants, representing a huge memory of flora observation campaigns of the past centuries. This “Herbarium” owes its wealth thanks to its exceptional state of conservation, its collectors, often traveling botanists from the 18th, 19th or 20th centuries but also its representativeness of the diversity of flowering plants, ferns, mushrooms, moss and algae from around the world.
You will discover the extraordinary stories of these collections and collectors, as well as the secret of its conservation and how it became a priceless data source for sciences.

A day in the “Dombes” region: biodiversity, lake functioning and lake fishing - all day, departure very early in the morning - English
You will discover the Dombes region through its lake biodiversity and their piscicultural techniques.
Program: Friday morning: departure from Lyon with a minibus to witness lake fishing.
At noon, you will be able to visit a typical village and have lunch (this meal is not provided by the organization).
A tour of various lakes is then planned in the afternoon before returning to Lyon.
This tour will be held by ISARA researchers, who have been working on these environments for many years.

Biodiversity and habitats of Rhône banks – circa 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. - French
Discover the biodiversity (fauna and flora) and habitats of Rhône banks, especially an alluvial forest around the “Table Ronde” Island. This tour will be held by an agent in charge of conservation, valorisation and rehabilitation of this territory. Maybe you’ll get a chance to observe beavers or herons!
